Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana urged pregnant women and the expectant mothers to undergo deliveries in government hospitals instead of private nursing homes.

Speaking to the media at the Pragathi Bhawan in the town on Tuesday, she outlined the measures being taken by the district administration in government hospitals for the pregnant women. They would be provided with all the necessary facilities, she added.

Collector Rana said that pregnant women undergo caesarian operations unnecessarily in private hospitals though normally deliveries could be done.

She said that in private hospitals, 88 percent caesarian operations were being performed though they were not required in most of the cases while in government hospitals, only 30 per cent caesarian operations were being performed.

Private dispensaries were only interested in making more money by performing such operations unnecessarily. In this connection, show-cause notices were issued to 28 private hospitals, she added.

The District Collector said that tenders would be called for the 2BHK houses in the district shortly. She said that 77 per cent of the saplings planted under the Haritha Haram programme survived and 100 percent of saplings survived in the school premises across the district.

Under the Mission Kakatiya programme, 223 tanks would be renovated and the works relating to Mision Bhagiratha were going on at a brisk pace, she added.

Yogitha Rana said that the grievances of the people in the district would be redressed through e-APP during the Prajavani programme which is held usually on the first Monday of every month.

She said that 80 percent food grains were being purchased from the farmers at the purchasing centres agricultural market yard without involving any middlemen or commission agents. Such a step would immensely benefit the farmers, she added.
