Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for a seeds purification factory and godowns in Boppaspalli village of Nasrullabad mandal in the district on Wednesday, he said that the seeds would be produced and processed here.
The Agriculture Minister said that the seeds purification factory would be constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore and a godown which could store 3,300 metric tonnes of food grains. He said that the foundation seed would be produced through a breeder seed, processed, packaged and distributed to the farmers.
Later, the certified seeds produced by the farmers would be purchased from them by the Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation, processed again by the factory and supplied to the farmers, Pechora added.
Minister Pocharam said that the certified would be purchased for than 30 per cent of the marked price so that the farmers could get some profits. Again, the seeds would be supplied to the farmers at a subsidy of Rs 500 per quintal.
He lauded the efforts of the farmers of Armoor mandal for making huge profits by producing quality seeds. He said that farmers of the neighbouring villages would also be benefitted by the new technology and they could make more profits.
The Minister said that a pulses seeds processing unit would be set up at Jukkal in the near future. He blamed the previous rulers in the undivided State for neglecting this region. Commissioner for Agriculture, Managing Director of Telangana Seeds Development Corporation Jaganmohan, District Collector Dr N Satyanarayana, District Cooperative Bank chairman Gangadhar Patwari and others were present.
