Fisheries College in Karimnagar soon
The State Cabinet on Thursday decided to set up a Fisheries College at LMD Karimnagar. Fisheries sector is one of the fast growing sectors contributing to GSDP of the State as well as generating income and employment.
Hyderabad: The State Cabinet on Thursday decided to set up a Fisheries College at LMD Karimnagar. Fisheries sector is one of the fast growing sectors contributing to GSDP of the State as well as generating income and employment.
More than 65 per cent of fishermen are concentrated in Warangal,Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda and Karimnagar districts.
According to sources 40 lakh fishermen depend on the fish trade and recently the government had taken up steps for growing fish seedlings in all irrigation tanks and reservoirs.
The government had already decided to set up a wholesale fish market in Karimnagar at a cost of Rs 2 crore and open fish markets in each mandals and in the major gram panchayats.
In the backdrop of this, setting up of fisheries college in Karimnagar assumes importance.
