Nizamabad: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Pocharam Srinivas Reddy urged doctors to work with a spirit of service-orientation on humanitarian considerations in government hospitals.

Launching the online (digital) services or, in other words, e-hospital at the Government Hospital in the town on Friday, he said that doctors should not work with a motive of earning profits or amassing wealth.

The Agriculture Minister said that with the introduction of online services in the hospital, the burden on the staff in providing the services would be greatly lessened. Moreover, services could be provided more efficiently and effectively, he added.

He said that government hospitals were the only hope to the poor and the downtrodden as they could not afford to take medical treatment in private corporate hospitals.

There are 41 government hospitals in the entire country offering online services (e-hospital services) to the patients and the hospital in Nizamabad town was one of them. Doctors should be more patient while dealing with the patients, he added.

Minister Pocharam bemoaned that caesarian operations were being undertaken in private maternity nursing homes although there was no necessity in most of the cases. Private hospitals were interested in making more money by conducting such operations, he lamented.

He advised the pregnant women to undergo deliveries in government-run hospitals. The Minister also inaugurated the MICU unit and the ventilator-support system in the hospital.

He interacted with the Hospital Superintendent and a team of doctors and gave them some valuable suggestions on providing better and effective medical services.

MLC VG Gowd, Zilla Parishad Chairman Dafedar Raju, medical and para-medical staff and others were present on the occasion.

Later, the Agriculture Minister held a review meeting with the district officials concerned on issues concerning rural development at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium in the town and told them to utilise the funds relating to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) properly to make the scheme a grand success.

He expressed happiness that Nizamabd district was on top in the state with regard to the implementation of this scheme. MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, MLC VG Goud and others were present.
