​Hanamkonda: The district administration, GWMC and KUDA have planned to develop are as many as 672 park sites in the city in a phased manner.

Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata has directed the authorities of both Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) and Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) towards the development of parks.

The Collector along with Municipal Commissioner Shruti Ojha, revenue, forest and KUDA officials has visited several park sites and tanks in the city on Tuesday.

Later on the day, a meeting was held at the district Collectorate to chalk out plans for the beautification of tanks and development of parks.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector stressed on the need to ensure a breathing space for the citizens by developing landscapes and plantations at 672 park sites under the limits of the Corporation.

The measure could also help to protect the parks from illegal encroachments. On a pilot basis, it was decided to develop Jayashankar Park (Ekasila Park) at Balasamudram in Hanamkonda and Gandhi Nagar Park at TV Tower area in Warangal along with parks at some main locations.

The DPRs for the purpose have to be prepared within one week along with estimations for the development of the parks.

The civil works, avenue plantations, entry plazas, creation of greenery, walking tracks have to be completed within next three months, Collector Amrapali told the corporation officials.

In order to protect the park lands from land grabbers, steps for setting up of fence around the park sites in the colonies in the city and measures to develop them with the help of residents have to be taken up, she added.

Discussions were also held on beautification of premises of Bhadrakali Tank, Urs Rangaleela Maidan, Urs Tank and Bhandam Cheruvu. The Collector wanted the revenue officials to fix full tank level (FTL) of the tanks in the city and mark the boundaries.

Warangal Conservator of Forests M J Akbar, KUDA Planning Officer E Ajit Reddy, DE Bheem Rao, city planner Ravindra Naik, horticulture officer Sadanandam and others accompanied the Collector and the Commissioner during the visit.
