Cheruvugattu: Walk on embers (Agnigundalu), one of the main events of the ongoing Cheruvugattu Brahmotsavams, was held on Sunday night.

As a part of the event, the devotees performed rituals and worshiped the presiding deities. The hillock reverberated with the chanting of Vedic hymns.

On the occasion, devotees sang songs in praise of Lord Shiva and played Bathukamma.

Keeping in view of last year’s bitter experience where a woman tripped in embers, the temple authorities this time made changes in the dimensions of the Agni Gundam (a place where embers are placed) and took all precautionary measures to avoid such incidents.

Police had made elaborate arrangements to ensure the safety of devotees. Large number of devotees participated in the event with utmost devotion.
