Jagtial is ideal for cultivation: Collector

​Jagtial: The Jagtial district has enormous scope for agriculture and the farmers are going to get huge profits in the coming up days, said District Collector Dr A Sharath.

He visited Lakshmipur village in Jagtial mandal on Tuesday as part of ‘Grama Sandarshana’ programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that many farmers in the district are cultivating fine quality of paddy crop this season, especially BPT, Hamsa and Sriram varieties.

‘To get recognition, the farmers of Lakshmipur village together formed a society, called Lakshmipur society to sell their produce along with creating a brand name to the rice produced in their village as ‘Lakshmipur Brand Rice,’ he said.

The Collector said that they are also planning to establish branches at different places to sell their produce in the name of Lakshmipur brand rice contacting several farmers and collecting the fine quality rice under Lakshmipur society.

‘Taking Lakshmipur village as an inspiration, we are planning to appoint a consultant for coordinating the farmers to get recognition for the fine quality rice produced in lakshmipur village, apart from other varieties of rice to promote and encourage farmers, who are producing fine quality rice in the district.’

Sharath felt that Jagtial will become an ideal for other districts in exporting fine quality rice not only to other districts across the State but also to other states and will become a big boost for the farmers to develop financially.
