Agitations intensify against shifting of TSRTC tyre shop
Agitations against the TSRTC authorities’ decision to shift Tyre Retreading Shop (TRS) situated at Hunter Road in Hanamkonda to Karimnagar getting intensified.
Hanamkonda: Agitations against the TSRTC authorities’ decision to shift Tyre Retreading Shop (TRS) situated at Hunter Road in Hanamkonda to Karimnagar getting intensified.
An all-party demonstration was held at the retreading shop on Wednesday in protest against its shifting and proposed closure of the unit.
The BJP leader Rao Padma, BC-JAC leader T Sheshu, TNSF leader A Sai, MRPS leader S Krishna Madiga, TVS leaders K Pavan and B Ranjith, left wing leaders G Prabhakar Reddy, Rajamouli and others took part in the protest.
Later on the day, they staged a dharna at Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Adalath Centre in Hanamkonda.
Speaking to presspersons, the leaders alleged that the shifting of the Tyre Retreading Shop Warangal was being done at the behest of the RTC Managing Director, GV Ramana Rao. The ruling party leaders and the bosses in the RTC were planning to lease out the land to private persons.
For the past two decades the Tyre Retreading Shop has been serving the needs of RTC depots in Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda regions. The product efficiency level (PEL) of the unit was very good and the unit has won awards for being the best tyre retreading shop in the state, the TRS JAC leaders said.
In view of the above facts it was not proper to shift the unit, said JAC leaders M Suresh and S Kumaraswamy. The RTC has been supplying petrol to hire buses and in a similar manner the Corporation should ensure retreading of tyres used by hire buses to make the Tyre Retreading Shop viable, they added.
The leaders warned that if the Corporation fails to withdraw its decision, the agitations would further be intensified. The relay gate-dharna being staged by the JAC has reached 19th day on Wednesday.
