The University of Hyderabad received a delegation of European Union on Wednesday, under the leadership of Tania Friederichs, Counsellor, Head of Research and Innovation Section.  

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad received a delegation of European Union on Wednesday, under the leadership of Tania Friederichs, Counsellor, Head of Research and Innovation Section.

The delegation comprised of 12 members from different parts of the Union. The meeting took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, who was joined by Deans of 12 Schools, a few Heads of Departments and the Director, International Affairs.

As part of its tour of India during February 8 to 10, 2017, the EU opted for Hyderabad which is famous for its IT hub and home to pharmaceutical and bio-technology industries.

The deliberations mainly focused on the possible cooperation and collaboration on research and innovation with India, which the EU considered as an important and integral part of its strategic partnership.

It is a matter of great pride that the University of Hyderabad has been one of its destinations to explore its research offerings.

Prof Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, explained about the specialty and uniqueness of each the Schools by a powerpoint presentation, involving teaching, research and the avenues available for students of foreign origin.

The delegation presented EU’s Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020 outlining the cooperation opportunities, conditions in general and in the fields specific to the University’s interest, both collaborative research as well as mobility schemes and grants.

The University and the EU will soon take further steps to achieve the objectives, agreed upon, in principle, leading to further enrichment of its academic stature and internationalization of the campus, in addition to already hosting students from various countries in different academic programmes.
