Fall in chilli prices: Congress holds Telangana govt responsible
District president of Congress party Aitham Sathyam alleged that the government was responsible for fall of chilli prices to lowest in the district, here in Khammam on Friday.
​Khammam: District president of Congress party Aitham Sathyam alleged that the government was responsible for fall of chilli prices to lowest in the district, here in Khammam on Friday.
He said in last few days, the price has fallen to the lowest Rs 8,000 per quintal in the Khammam Agricultural Market much to the disappointment of chilli growers.
“Fake seeds, traders forming syndicate, high rates of interest, high cost of production and now low rates to the produce, how many problems a farmer has to face?” he questioned.
“The government is responsible for such condition. It is indirectly encouraging private traders, who by forming syndicate are purchasing chillies for low prices even though there is a great demand for chillies in national and international market and deceiving the innocent farmers,” he criticised.
He demanded the gover ment to fix MSP of Rs 14,000 per quintal of chillies and solve the problems of chilli growers.
