Adilabad: Following protests by members of the Zilla Parishad at its broad-based meeting over the delay in the distribution of SC and ST loans, Minister for Endowments A Indrakaran Reddy and Minister for Forests Jogu Ramanna on Friday assured that the problems causing the delay would be solved.

Their assurance came in the wake of a heated debate on the issue at the meeting, with the members complaining that although the financial year is about to end the loans are yet to the SC and ST beneficiaries.

Some members pointed out that the attitude of the officials concerned for the delay would bring a bad name to the government. Hence, they wanted remedial steps to be taken by the two ministers.

In his response, Ramanna assured that all steps would be taken by the State government to ensure that the loans reached the needy.

He said the e-budget funds would be allocated for releasing the loan amounts. He said that the government would extend a special loan of Rs.1 lakh each to each sheep-rearer, treating each family of the Yadava and Kurma communities being treated as a unit.

He suggested that sheep-rearers in the district should be encouraged to set up four cooperative societies. When some members brought to the notice of the Ministers the need for preparing special schemes to overcome drinking water shortage in villages, Indrakaran Reddy assured them that steps would be compulsorily taken to ensue water supply to problem areas.

Legislator Rekha Shyam Naik complained about the indiscriminate raids by the department staff on girijan thandas in the name of banishing ‘gudumba’. She demanded action against the staff for registering cases against even women.

Mancherial District Collector Karnan assured the MLA that the administration would take remedial action.
Several members demanded TSRTC bus services to all the villages.

Indrakaran Reddy suggested to RTC officials to sanction 20 mini-buses each to Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts.

He assured the meeting that the issue would be discussed with top TSRTC officials to sanction special buses for the districts. Utnoor ZPTC Member Jagjivan expressed concern over the deplorable functioning of the Anganwadi centres in the interior areas.

Nirmal Collector K Ilambariti said that salaries of the supervisors would be withheld if they fail to supervise the functioning of the anganwadi centres properly.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Shoba Satyanarayana, MLAs Vittal Reddy, Shyam Maik and Rathod Babu were present on the occasion.
