Kothagudem: MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao said providing health services to the poor was the top priority of the government.

While addressing the students here at old Kothagudem School on the occasion of National Deworming Day, he asked students to take care of their health in order to excel studies.

Government has been taking extra care about poor students by providing better health services, the MLA said. He asked the students to avail the opportunity.

He further suggested them to maintain personal hygiene to keep some of the diseases at bay. He added that worms would present in every human being for certain level and when their number increases, it causes anemia which is seen more in girls.

“Everyone should wash their hands with anti-microbial liquid to prevent or eliminate disease causing germs,” Venkat Rao advised, adding that government’s aim was to provide quality education in government schools on par with corporate schools.

He asked the students to work hard and achieve good results. Earlier, the MLA distributed tablets to students.

District Education Officer Hayagreeva Chary, District Health Officer B Venkateshwar Rao, MPP B Kesli, Municipal chairperson Puli Githa, Municipal commissioner Safi Ulla, councillor Sultana, education and health department staff attended the programme.
