Nizamabad: Minister for Major Irrigation T Harish Rao said that the State government has prepared action plans to supply water and irrigate one crore acres of land.

Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for the check-dam construction works at Gangopula village of Bhimgal mandal in the district on Monday, he said that the government wants to irrigate each and every acre of land to make the entire State a fertile ground for producing rich varieties of crops.

The Minister lashed out at the Congress leaders for creating hurdles in the path of development while the TRS government was trying hard to take it on the path of development.

He reminded the farmers that earlier, during the previous Congress regimes in the undivided State of Andhra Pradesh, farmers used to sit in dharna at the sub-stations protesting against the frequent power outages but it was no longer the case now.

Now, the government was supplying power 24 hours a day, and there would be no need for migrations to other areas for jobs from the State, he added.

Minister Harish Rao said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao conducted mahayagnams for the well-being of people of the State, including the farmers, poor and the downtrodden and they were yielding positive results now.

Participating in the meeting, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha said that earlier, the old age pension was Rs 200 but now, after the formation of the Telangana State, it rose to Rs 1,000. Just as mother cares for her child and a farmers cares for his agricultural land, KCR cares for the Telangana State, she added.

She said that State government would take up each and every issue and resolve them gradually over the years.

Later, the Nizamabad MP laid the foundation stone for the check dam at the Peddavagu in Velpur mandal, taken up at a cost of Rs 4.4 crore.

Mission Bhagiratha Vice-chairman and Balkonda MLA Vemula Prashant Reddy, district TRS president E Gangareddy and others were present on the occasion.
