Karimnagar: The government is striving hard for the welfare and development of disabled persons in the State, said MP Boinapalli Vinod Kumar.

The representatives of ‘Aritifical Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India’ took measurements of disabled persons at a programme held at Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday to manufacture artificial limbs for them.

Attending as a chief guest at the programme, the MP, Vinod Kumar, said that the government is taking special care for the development of various sections of people in the State by implementing several welfare schemes.

As part of that, the government has been organising various programmes like growing fish seeds, distribution of sheep on subsidy, establishment of shops to Nayee Brahamins and using of technology for washing clothes for washermen.

Motor bikes would be distributed to the disabled in near future, he assured. The Central government is ready to sanction Rs One crore for the distribution of aids and appliances for the people with the disabilities, he informed.

Vinod Kumar said that doctors from London are doing heart transplantation at Prathima Hospital free for poor children and urged the parents of children with heart diseases to utilise the opportunity.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, DCCB Chairman Sudhakar Reddy, Corporator Y Sunil Rao and District Welfare Officer Girija were present along with others.
