Pochampalli: District Collector Anitha Ramchandran urged the people to wear handloom clothes once in a week to support handloom weavers.

She along with MLA Shekar Reddy and Padmasri awardee Chintakindi Mallesh, participated in handloom walk organised by handloom and tie and dye sari weavers association in Pochampalli mandal head quarters on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector advised weavers to weave differently by catching the pulse of the customers. Stating that there are a variety of saris and dress material for women in handlooms whereas men do not have, she advised the weavers to focus on designing men clothes also.

Bhongir MLA Shekar Reddy informed that the Handlooms Minister was taking special care to give new lease of life to weaver community in the State.

Padma Sree awardee Chintakindi Mallesham explained how the invention asu machine reduced the time and labor required to weave pochampalli silk saris.
