Jagtial: Growing toddy saplings in drip irrigation method is a novel experiment and will be highly helpful for future generations, observed K Swami Goud, Legislative Council Chairman.

Along with Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud, Swami Goud inspected toddy plantations grown in 30 acres in Anthargam village in Jagtial on Tuesday.

Speaking at a programme ‘Palle Kallu Patnam Daka’, the Chairman said that the government is taking all necessary measures for transporting toddy produced in villages to cities like Hyderabad through tankers like milk.

This toddy will be sold at various points by establishing separate shops. Toddy plantations grown in
Anthargam will become an ideal for all other villages in the states, he felt.

Appreciating the role of media in achieving separate Statehood for Telangana, Swami Goud said that it is the responsibility of everyone to protect women and their rights.

Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud said that he will be signing a GO on Wednesday, which will grant ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs to the family members in case of accidental death of family head.

‘Being a member of the community, it is my responsibility to solve all the problems the Goud community is facing,’ he assured.

The Minister said that he will direct District Collector Dr A Sharath to issue pension cards to all the eligible.
He advised the MLAs of all constituencies to grant Rs 50 lakh funds for the Goud community present in their constituencies.

‘Places will be allotted for growing toddy plantations where ever possible in the State to prevent Gudumba manufacturing.

Since the profession of Gouds is very risk compared to others, more priority will be given to Goud community and if needed modern machinery will arranged for removing toddy from plants like that in Kerala State by investing Rs 100 crores along with arranging transport facility.’

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma, local MLA Jeevan Reddy, MPP, ZPTCs, MPTCs and village sarpanch were present along with others.
