Peddapalli: The State government is establishing Minority Residential Schools in the State for the all-round development of people belonging to minorities, said District Collector Dr V S Alagu Varshini.

She flagged off the publicity vehicle at the Collectorate here on Friday for creating awareness among the public about Minority Residential schools and also to give wide publicity for getting admissions into the schools.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that last year the government had sanctioned two Minority Residential Schools in the district - one for girls in Peddapalli in which 135 students took admissions out of allotted 160 seats and second for boys in Ramagundam in which 174 students took admissions out of allotted 240 seats.

This is year the government has sanctioned one more school for girls in Manthani. Well qualified and experienced teachers like those working in corporate schools would teach the students in Minority Residential Schools, along with providing free uniform and books to the students, she added.

Varshini urged the parents of the children to utilise this opportunity to get rid of their problems of paying high fees in private schools by admitting their children in Minority Residential Schools.

Development of a person is possible only through education and every child must be educated to develop in their life, she advised.

City Municipal Chairperson A Rajaiah, District Minority Welfare Officer P Sudhakar, District Education Officer Venkateshwar Rao, District Welfare Officer Padmavathi, District Agricultural Officer Thirumal Prasad, Officer of the District Animal Husbandry Department Rajanna, District Social Welfare Officer Mogilaiah and Minority leaders were present along with others.
