In a significant step towards smart policing, the Suryapet police have embraced mobile technology in a big way by launching Rapid Cop, an integrated mobile or tab web application. 

Suryapet: In a significant step towards smart policing, the Suryapet police have embraced mobile technology in a big way by launching Rapid Cop, an integrated mobile or tab web application.

The app will help in preventing and controlling of crime apart from improving the efficiency of day-to-day operations and accountability in the department.

Hyderabad range DIG Akun Sabharwal launched the app, which was developed by Trackitnow Technologies Pvt Ltd, at police headquarters in Suryapet on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG informed that Rapid Cop app was equipped with the feature of two-way communication, where any incident in the district could be reported to the control room by just clicking and sending the picture, video or audio from the site of crime.

The control room in turn would pass on information to respective police stations. The officials will then check the information that is displayed in the form of a list with the recent incident being placed on the top. One can share incident details using social platforms like WhatsApp etc., the DIG shared.

All the information could be shared with the concerned authorities and documented for effective handling and prevention of crime, thus improving efficiency and professionalism in day-to-day, he informed.

SP Parimala Nutan said the mobile app was equipped with a host of features to facilitate modern day policing with GPS vehicle tracking system for real time monitoring of movement of vehicles, incident tracking and reporting.

“Rapid Cop is a secure platform with a host of features to help police to control crime and keep the district safer. Right from control room, all the police patrol vehicles moving across the district can be tracked with a click,” she added District Collector Surendra Mohan participated in the programme as a special guest.
