Bhadrachalam: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has on Monday questioned the Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he would fulfill his 2014 election promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in the account of each citizen of the country.

Speaking at the Jana Aavedana Sammelanam here, he said Modi had more concern for corporate sector instead of common man while implementing demonetisation of high-value currency notes.

“Modi who announced at the time of 2014 elections that Rs 15 lakh from the black money seized from foreign banks would be given to every Indian has forgotten his promise,” Bhatti said, accusing the BJP government of rolling out red carpet to the corporate.

The governance in the State is no different, he said, training guns at ruling TRS. “Chanting Bangaru Telangana and social justice, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to hoodwink people. Turning a blind eye to the issues faced by people, the government is protecting the interests of the corrupt,” he said.

Referring to the construction of the Bhadradri Thermal Power Station, Bhatti questioned the government’s concern towards the tribals of the region. He said while Congress leaders tried their best to stop the transfer of seven mandals of erstwhile Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh, the TRS government maintained silence due to vested interests. Expressing confidence that Congress would regain power in 2019, Bhatti said their cadre was trying to expose the TRS government’s failures through Jana Aavedana Sammelanam.

Former Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu criticised the government for its failure to give pattas to tribals who have been practicing podu agriculture for decades. Former Union Minister Porika Balaram Naik said the State government was meting out step-motherly treatment to Bhadrachalam, while giving preference to Yadadri temple.

Former MLAs Vanama Venkateswara Rao, Rega Kantha Rao, State official spokesperson Bellaiah Naik, DCC president Aitham Satyam, Budagam Srinivas, Nallapu Durga Prasad, T Ramesh Goud, Ch Ravi Kumar, B Ranga Rao, T Narasimha Rao, V Srinivas Reddy and B Srinivas Reddy were among others present.
