A three-day workshop, ‘All India Road Show on Women Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship’ (AIRSWEE) aiming to nurture aspiring women entrepreneurs, was commenced at SR Engineering College here on Tuesday.
Warangal: A three-day workshop, ‘All India Road Show on Women Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship’ (AIRSWEE) aiming to nurture aspiring women entrepreneurs, was commenced at SR Engineering College here on Tuesday.
A non-profit organisation, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Global, the world's largest network of entrepreneurs is organising the workshop with the funding from the US Mission India, US Department of State (DOS).
The US Consulate Public Affairs Officer Gabriel Hons Olivier, the TiE Global Board Member Murali Bukkapatnam, SR Educational Society Chairman A Varada Reddy and Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata attended the launch of the workshop.
Addressing the gathering, the US official Olivier said the US Mission has involved in various programmes in India from climate change to social activities as part of its bilateral relations with the country. The objective of the workshop is empowering aspiring young women in Tier-II and Tier-III cities in India.
The TiE Global Board Member Murali said the workshop is meant to allow the participants to interact with successful women entrepreneurs wherein the latter could share their knowledge with aspiring women entrepreneurs to launch enterprises of their own.
Collector Amrapali wished the participants best and said for a woman it would be difficult to succeed in business as they have to face many challenges yet they could taste success if put up hard work.
SR Educational Society Chairman Varada Reddy said he is very happy to host such a prestigious programme and said the college management will extend all the cooperation for the success of the workshop.
The US-based mentors Komal Goyal, Kanchana Raman and Seema Chaturvedi and Indian mentors Madhavi Vuppalapati, Shravya Reddy, Ekta Bahl and Neeharika Katikaneni are roped in to help the participants understand sales and marketing, operations and processes, market strategy, human resources, finance and others.
It may be noted that of the 200 applicants a total number of 25 participants are selected for AIRSWEEE workshop in Warangal. Of the 25, five participants will be selected to receive an additional six months of mentoring from USA and Indian mentors through video conferencing.
They will be given complimentary membership to the local TiE chapter for a period of one year.
