Model Anganwadis mulled akin to corporate play schools
In order to provide equal fun and facilities on par with corporate play schools to kids of poor, the district administration has decided to upgrade the existing Anganwadis to Model Anganwadis.
Suryapet: In order to provide equal fun and facilities on par with corporate play schools to kids of poor, the district administration has decided to upgrade the existing Anganwadis to Model Anganwadis.
Under this programme, which is the brain child of Collector Surendra Mohan, eight Anganwadi centres in municipal limits of the town and two in rural area of Suryapet have been selected for upgradation.
HDC-Anganwadi centre of 11th ward at Gopalapuram in Suryapet town has been selected for the start of the project. On February 24, the Collector will officially launch the programme in this centre.

According to officials, with an estimated cost of Rs 50,000 funded by district administration, Model Anganwadis will have all the study material along with indoor play equipment and audio-visual aids to attract children towards Anganwadis.
The officials further informed that after examining the outcome in pilot Anganwadi centre, with necessary changes, the Model Anganwadi programme would be introduced in rest of the nine centres selected.
Speaking to The Hans India, District Collector Surendra Mohan informed that during his stay in the US as a software engineer, he paid 1,000 dollars to admit his kid in pre-primary school.
In US by investing huge money, managements of pre-primary schools would create fun-filled environment and implement Montessori play way teaching methods for overall development of kids.
On the lines of US method, Model Anganwadi programme was designed to improve the kids of the Anganwadis socially, mentally, psychologically to make them good citizens of the society, he said.
As part of the programme, upgradation of pre-school aids and strengthening of activities at Anganwadi centres will be taken up by district administration and also with the help of sponsors, the Collector added.
