Khammam: Protesting against the illegal arrests of its leaders, the representatives of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) held a rally here in Khammam on Thursday.

The rally was taken out from Ambedkar Bhavan to Ambedkar statue with the representatives of various student and peoples’ organisations participating in it.

Speaking on the occasion, TJAC district convenor Chirra Ravi alleged that the police officials over reacted and stopped the protest rally across the State and in Hyderabad. They even arrested JAC leaders two days prior to the meeting to restrict them from attending the rally.

Threatening the government to stop resorting to such tactics, he demanded the government to release the arrested leaders immediately. “Government should fill all vacant posts immediately and solve student issues as early as possible otherwise we will teach a fitting lesson to TRS government, the TJAC leader warned.

DYFI burns CM’s effigy
Meanwhile, condemning the illegal arrests of Prof Kodandaram and leaders of various peoples’ organisations, the representatives of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) burnt an effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Khammam and Yellandu main road on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, DYFI district secretary Shaik Basheeruddin alleged that the CM was ruling like an autocrat by resorting to arrest of leaders like Prof Kodandaram and not allowing the latter to organise the rally to question the government for its false promises.

“During the separate Telangana movement when Prof Kodandaram conducted meetings and rallies, KCR himself participated in many of them. But now, he is arresting the same person for conducting rally,” he pointed out.

“By illegal arrests nobody can stop the movements, history tells that. Chief Minister must remember this and release the leaders,” Basheeruddin demanded.
