​Warangal/ Bhupalpalli: Large numbers of devotees have thronged Shaivite temples in the erstwhile Warangal district on the occasion of Maha Sivaratri and offered special prayers.

Long queues of devotees were seen at the historic Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanamkonda, Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Inavolu, Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Komuaravelli, Veerabhadra Swamy temple at Kuravi and Sri Someshwara Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Palakurthy.

'Kalyana Mahostavam' was conducted at Sri Rudreshwara Swamy Thousand Pillar Temple on Friday evening where huge number of devotees has turned up. Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu performed ‘Palabhishekam’ at Siddeshwara Swamy temple.

Similarly devotees visited Kaleshwara-Muktheeshwara temple located on the banks of River Godavari in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district, marking Maha Sivaratri.

There has been a raise in number of devotees coming from neighbouring Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states with the inauguration of Sironcha-Kaleshwaram bridge and Mullakatta bridge at Eturunagram across River Godavari.

It was expected about 25,000 to 30,000 devotees would visit the temple but nearly 50,000 people have visited the temple on Friday, the temple authorities informed. Women devotees had to face trouble in changing clothes after taking holy dip as the officials failed to set up makeshift dress changing rooms.

Some devotees subscribed for 'Shaswatha Kalyanam' scheme entered into arguments with the temple Executive Officer B Srinivas for not allowing them to sit near the platform during the ‘Shiva Kalyanam’.
