Nalgonda: Maha Sivarathri was celebrated with devotion and spiritual fervour in erstwhile Nalgonda district. Thousands of devotees thronged famed Siva temples in Wadapalli, Cheruvugattu, Pangal, Eleshwaram, Nagarjunasagar in Nalgonda district, Someshwaralayam of Kolanpaka, Bheema Lingam of Valingonda mandal, Shivalayam of Yadadri, Pacchala Kaata Someswaralayam of Bhongir and Pillamarri, Mellacherurvu, Burugugadda of Huzurnagar, Nagulapati Annaram and Somaram of Neredcherla mandal in Suryapet district.
On the occasion, devotees performed special pujas and Abishekams to Lord Siva. The temples reverberated with Om Namah Sivaiah chants. Respective temple authorities made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of devotees.
Meanwhile, a seven-foot-long incense stick, sponsored by Ambica Durbar Bathi, was lighted in Ramalingeshwara temple of Suryapet.
in Yadagirigutta, on the occasion of Maha Sivarathri, the priests of Parvathavarthini-Ramalingeswara Swamy temple here performed Kalyanamahotsavam to the presiding deities on Friday.
Devotees in large number thronged the temple. While Satha Rudrabhishakem will be performed to Lord Shiva on Saturday, Rathotsavam will be organised on Sunday. Mahapurnavuti and Dolotsavam will be performed on Monday.
