Sathupally (Khammam): The Central and State governments have failed to deliver on their promises, Congress Legislature Party Deputy Leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has said.

Addressing a public meeting organised as part of Congress’ Jana Aavedana Sammelanam programme here on Monday, he said it was disheartening to note that since the BJP and the TRS came to power in 2014, farming sector has been totally ignored.

Although scores of farmers committed suicide in last two-and-a-half years, neither the Centre nor the State has done anything concrete to rescue the agriculture sector, he said.

“Demonetisation of high-value notes has affected workers, especially those engaged in the unorganised sector, farmers, small traders and petty vendors,” Reddy said, accusing the Centre of implementing pro corporate policies.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao promised to give three acres to poor Dalits, double bedroom houses and many more, but none of them was fulfilled, Reddy said, demanding the TRS government to fulfil its poll promises.

Referring to the 12 per cent reservation to Muslims and KG to PG free education, former Minister Sambhani Chandrasekhar said Congress would only fulfil the aspirations of the people.

He demanded the government to lay its focus on unemployed youth and the economically weaker sections. Khammam DCC president Aitham Satyam, senior leaders Katla Ranga Rao and Manavata Roy were among others present. Earlier, the leaders took out a bike rally in the town.
