Karimnagar: District secretary of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) Geetla Mukunda Reddy demanded the government allot double bedroom houses to all eligible persons.
Submitting a representation to the District Collector as part of Grievances Day, he lamented that thousands of people in the district have no shelter to live. As many as 11,456 people have applied for double bedroom houses in Karimnagar urban mandal alone. But the government had not taken any initiation to start the project except in Chinna Mulkanaru village.
It has taken any steps till date for collecting the required land for construction of double bedroom houses and to call for tenders, he alleged. Out of 11,456 persons applied, the officials identified only 2,821 beneficiaries and allotted 1,400 double bedroom houses only.
How the government is going to allot houses to the remaining eligible persons? he questioned. Party leaders G Sathyam, U Srinivas, V Ravi Kumar, Ramesh, G Bheem Saheb and E Ramesh were present along with others.
