Khammam Collector calls for taking steps to avert road mishaps
The Collector chaired a meeting along with District Superintendent of Police Shanawaz Qasim to discuss preventives steps to be taken for averting road accidents, at Pragna Conference Hall in Collectorate in Khammam on Tuesday.Â
Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the officials to take proper steps for preventing road accidents in the district.
The Collector chaired a meeting along with District Superintendent of Police Shanawaz Qasim to discuss preventives steps to be taken for averting road accidents, at Pragna Conference Hall in Collectorate in Khammam on Tuesday.
Speaking in the meeting, the Collector ordered the officials to establish speed breakers at main centres and at bypass roads, with paintings at the zebra crossings along with lighting system and traffic signals at Kinnera Centre, Raparthi Nagar and NTR Circle to prevent road accidents.
“There is a possibility of accidents to take place because of the presence of dividers on the main road along with many u-turns in the city. Take steps to prevent such accidents,” advised the Collector.
The Collector ordered the officials of R&B, Municipal and Police departments to work in coordination and establish parking zones for preventing parking of vehicles in front of shopping malls and on the either side of the main road.
The Collector ordered the officials of RTA department to check condition of school buses every six months apart from asking the bus drivers to produce health check slips.
SP Shanawaz Qasim ordered the officials to check the autos thoroughly passengers beyond the capacity and take stringent actions against auto drivers who violate traffic rules. He also ordered them to establish check post at main centres to check drink and drive cases for preventing road accidents.
Meanwhile, Traffic CI Naresh Reddy gave a power point presentation on how to prevent road accidents on the occasion.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sai Krishna, Municipal Commissioner B Srinivas, District Transport Officer Hanumanth Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police K Suresh Kumar, Excise Superintendent Kiran, Executive Engineer of R&B Dhanujay, District Educational Officer Vijaya Lakshmi Bhai, Regional Manager of RTC Ram Murthy and officials of police department attended the meeting.
