Q: What sort of activities are you undertaking as part of Road Safety week celebrations?
A: As per the directions of Superintendent of Police, we are organising awareness camps in order to sensitise the motorists including drivers.

Q: What kind of awareness programmes are being organised in the district?
A: We are creating awareness among the students, auto-rickshaw drivers, bus drivers on road safety measures, safety rules and importance of wearing helmets and seat belts. We are also conducting awareness camps to others.

Q: What results are seen after the formation of SHE teams?
A: Mischief mongers have stopped creating troubles on the roads. We are giving counselling to those involved in teasing girls. We are counselling them in front of their parents and warning them about the consequences they had to face in case of repetition. The district is now peaceful to some extent.

Q: Are you alert after the recent theft at the ATM centre?
A: We are maintaining a strict vigil over all the ATMs in the division. We have given special directions to the police and the bank officials concerned. We have arranged closed circuit cameras at all the ATM centres.

Q: What would you say about the allegations over not running patrolling during nights?
A: We are conducting patrolling during the nights by deploying special teams. We are directing the locals to inform the police in case they come across any suspicious persons. Patrolling is a continuous activity. The allegations are not true.

Q: Are you checking vehicles?
A: All the police stations under the limits of the division are checking vehicles on a regular basis. We are directing the riders of two-wheelers to wear helmets. We are penalising those who aren’t wearing helmets.

Q: What action are you contemplating against drunk driving?
A: We are checking drunk-drive programmes daily. We are imposing fines on those driving vehicles in a tipsy condition.

Q: What actions are being taken to eradicate playing cards?
A: We have increased vigil under the limits of all the police stations. We are conducting raids on tip off. We are registering cases in this regard.
