Khammam: Demanding the government to render justice to farmers by setting up a commission for controlling the fall in prices apart from fixing minimum support price, the state secretary of YSR Congress Party, Jillapalli Saidulu, said the farmers were depressed over the plummeting prices.

Saidulu along with his party leaders visited the Khammam Agricultural Market and interacted with farmers. They inquired about the price they were getting for their produce here on Thursday. He also inquired the FCI officer Nandamaiah about the price fixed for various food grains.

Speaking on the occasion, Saidulu said farmers were facing lot of problems by not getting minimum support price for their produce even after slogging out in the fields and investing huge amounts of money.

“Farmer will get justice only when they have the right to fix the price of their own produce. Until then, they will be exploited by traders and middlemen, and farmers’ suicides will continue in the State,” he observed. “Many farmers thought that after formation of separate Telangana they would be benefitted and could live happily with their children.

But till date, thousands of farmers committed suicide and the government is in no mood to at least console their family and grant ex gratia,” he alleged. He demanded the government to fix MSP for the produce and save the farming community, otherwise they would start phase-wise movements to teach the government a fitting lesson.
