Khammam: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) demanded the government implement Supreme Court orders for contract and outsourcing employees and pay equal salary for equal work.

Speaking at a meeting held with municipal workers at Giri Prasad Bhavan in Khammam on Tuesday, District secretary of AITUC Manda Venkateshwarlu said it was well known that the Supreme Court issued the orders to pay Rs 10,500 for contract and outsourcing municipal workers. But, the State government did not implement it till date.

The workers unions are unable to understand why the government was delaying in implement apex court’s order, he said.

“Many workers who felt happy after Supreme Court orders are now depressed with state government remaining nonchalant towards the implementation. Most of them are disappointed, and are living in miserable conditions with meagre salaries,” he observed.

He demanded the government implement the Supreme Court orders immediately and enhance the salaries of municipal workers to Rs 18,000 apart from regularising. Several AITUC leaders attended the meeting.
