Hyderabad: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad organised cultural night fest called Dharohar –17 in the campus. Guest of Honour for the event was Anjani Kumar Singh, ADGP Telangana and Chief Guest as Prof Sunaina Singh, VC, EFLU, Hyderabad.

The highlight of this cultural event was delightful Veena recital by Prof K G Vijayakrishnan, an internationally acclaimed linguist and is the renowned veena player. Students were fortunate enough to enjoy the different musical ragas played by him.

The other acclaimed artists were Warsi Brothers who performed Qawwali for which the entire campus gathered to enjoy.

A showcase of the enriching world of Indian artistic culture, especially of several musical forms. In order to showcase and popularize the rich and varied Indian culture in the university, the Art and Culture cell was ideated and initiated by our Vice Chancellor three years back.

So, in 2014 we organized the first annual cultural event, Virasat, in collaboration with the SPICMACAY. Taking the cultural trend ahead, in March 2015 and in April 2016 the Art and Culture cell had independently organized Dharohar, the university’s annual cultural event as an initiative by our Vice Chancellor.

Dharohar, as the name of the event suggests is about showcasing the legacy of the rich and varied Indian cultural heritage in times when communication and culture is largely defined by instant messaging and recurrent profile updates on social media sites and mobile applications.

The event coordinator Lina Mukhopadyay said, “Taking forward our efforts in 2017, we are very happy to organize the third Dharohar or the annual cultural event of the University for the entertainment of the students, faculty, staff and the guests.”

“Any event is made successful by the audience. And that evening, we have had an amazing audience which was one main reason for the success of the event” he adds.
