Warangal: The city Congress working president, Rajanala Srihari, has demanded the State government to initiate immediate measures to provide basic amenities at social welfare hostels in the district.

He along with several leaders of the party has visited SC/ST Hostel at Perukawada in Warangal on Thursday following complaints by the hostel inmates over poor facilities at the hostel. Speaking to presspersons on the occasion, the Congress leader said there were just 10 rooms for nearly 130 students.

The hostel lacked ceiling fans, proper drinking water, toilets. The students were not supplied beds and bed-sheets and the food supplied to them was of very poor quality, he said after tasting the food provided to the hostel inmates.

‘The menu prescribed was not being followed. It was sad that hostel warden, who was supposed to be present at the hostel to look after the needs of the students, was often absent,’ Srihari complained.

He cautioned that if the government fails to address the issues at the social welfare hostels, Congress party would take serious agitations across the district.

The party leaders M Vinod Kumar, Kothapelli Srinivas, Md Ayub, Nishanth Goud, Jannu Ravi and others were present.
