​Hanamkonda: Efforts were being made to ensure greater transparency in the functioning of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Warangal chapter chairman Dr T Ravinder Rao said.

IRCS organised a free medical screening camp and a blood donation camp at its premises in Hanamkonda on Friday. The programme was organised marking International Women’s Day. Nearly 150 municipal sanitary workers were diagnosed and distributed free medicines at the medical camp.

Speaking after inaugurating the medical and blood donation camps, Dr Ravinder Rao has called upon the public in the society, mainly the youth, to come forward to donate blood as frequently as possible. He informed that nearly 65 volunteers have donated blood at the camp.

On the occasion, prizes were distributed to the winners of essay writing and elocution competitions conducted by the IRCS marking Women’s Day. A group of women volunteers were felicitated and presented the society mementoes.

The IRCS vice-chairman Dr K Sudhakar Reddy, treasurer M Nagaiah, managing committee members Dr P Vijaychander Reddy, P Srinivas Rao, G Purushotham, EV Srinivasa Rao, P V Narayana Goud, B Hariprasad, Dr S Vijaya Laksmi and others were present.

GWMC health officer Dr B Raja Reddy, doctors B Mohan Rao, Kasturi Prameela, P Vijaychander Reddy, S Ram Kishan, G Prabhakar Rao and others have offered their services in conducting the medical camp.
