Jangaon: A mini feed mixing plant would be set up soon at Jangaon to ensure supply of quality feed for cattle in the district, informed Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (TSDDCF) Limited managing director K Nirmala.

The feed mixing unit would benefit the dairy farmers in a big way as they could procure nutritious feed for the cattle locally at reasonable prices. The farmers could also sell agriculture produce like groundnut, maize and black gram to prepare the feed, she said.

The MD has attended a meeting of the District Dairy Farmers Association here on Friday. Addressing the gathering, Nirmala directed the officials to ensure supply of quality milk procured and processed by Vijaya Dairy at every door step in the district.

She also promised to provide equipment to make curd at Vijaya Dairy. Those interested to set up a Vijaya Dairy parlour could do so by obtaining a loan of one lakh rupees through IDBI bank. The official promised measures to clear payments along with cash incentives to the farmers for every 15 days.

District Collector A Devasena urged farmers not to incline towards private dairies but to sell milk only to Vijaya Dairy saying there was a need to patronise Vijaya Dairy which for the past several decades has been supporting the dairy farmers in the State.

In Jangaon every day nearly 40, 000 litres of milk was being produced and the milk was known for its quality, she noted while suggesting that products like lassi and butter milk should be prepared at Jangaon Vijaya Dairy as there would be in demand during summer.

The dairy manager Gopal Singh stated that they were planning to increase the volume of milk procurement to 60,000 litres per day. Later, 76 bicycles were distributed to dairy farmers of Siddenki village.

The association chairman N Somi Reddy, the district animal husbandry officer Narasimha Rao, IDBI manager IB Raju and others were present.
