Taking forward its commitment to the cause of improving lives of construction workers and their families, PNB Housing Finance Limited has established education cum day-care centres for children (in the age groups of three to six and 6-14 years) at two sites.

These onsite centres, established in collaboration with Plan India and NGO Mahita, will cater to the workers’ base at My Home Constructions, Gowli Doddi and at Srinivasa Constructions, Hafeezpet.

The centres will support the education, nutrition and development needs of children coming from neighbouring labour camps.

Speaking about the initiative Sanjaya Gupta, Managing Director, PNB Housing said, “The construction industry plays a key role in combating high levels of unemployment and in absorbing surplus labour from the rural areas.

Construction workers and their families form primary stakeholder for us and through these modest initiatives, we aim to improve their social and economic condition.

Our motive behind establishing these day-care centres is to facilitate primary education and health related development for the children of construction workers who are unable to take care of them while working.

We consider it our responsibility to take care of their needs, supporting and helping them to focus on their work will ensuring holistic development of their children.”

“This initiative aims to improve access to appropriate care and learning for children between 3 -14 years and facilitate smooth transition to the mainstream school, added Bhagyashri Dengle, Executive Director, Plan India.
