Khammam: ‘The State government has allocated very meagre funds to education sector in the new budget for the fiscal year of 2017-18,’ pointed out Jagarlamudi Ranjith Kumar, the All India Student Federation (AISF) district secretary.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, he said out of the total Rs 1,49,446 crore budget, the government allocated only Rs 12,705 crores for education sector, which was not at all sufficient for its development.

‘The government allocating Rs 1,939 crores to education sector hints its intention of cancelling fee reimbursement, when more than Rs 3,000 crores of fee reimbursement amount is pending.’

He questioned the government how it could implement Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s poll promise of KG to PG free education scheme with these insufficient funds.

Further, he said that the government had not allocated any funds for the development of universities and for establishing new universities. The budget allocations for education sector has disappointed many students and educationists, he criticised.
