Khammam: The Communist Party of India (CPI) District Secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao contradicted Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who said the budget presented by Finance Minister Eatela Rajender was a perfect prescription for the State’s needs.

Speaking at a party meeting here on Monday, he termed the budget as a jugglery of numbers and called it unrealistic. Moreover, the TRS government made no effort to fulfil its poll promises, if one goes by the budget allocations, he said.

“There was no mention about KG to PG fee education and three acres land to dalits in the budget,” he said. Although the government claims that it had earmarked more funds for the welfare of backward classes, scheduled castes and tribes, the allocations have been done with vested interests, he alleged.

The allocation of Rs 1,000 crore to most backward classes is not adequate, he said. Referring to the Rs 1,930 crore fund allocations to the fee reimbursement, Bagam Hemanth questioned the government on how it would meet the needs of nearly Rs 4,000 crore.

He accused the government of making efforts to increase its excise income from Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 8,000 crore. Referring to the last year’s budget, he said that government was only able to spend about 30 to 40 per cent of its allocation.
