Parkal: In what is termed as a bizarre incident, the Opposition Congress councillor touched the feet of Municipal Commissioner, urging him to allocate developmental funds to their wards in Parkal of Warangal Rural district on Monday.

The three councillors – Madikonda Sampath and Mallikamba (Congress) and Jayant Lal (BJP) locked the Nagara Panchayat office and staged a protest in front of it demanding funds to their wards. It may be noted here that Panchayat got Rs 1.34 crore funds from the 14th Finance Commission recently. The civic body was to pass a resolution about the allocation of funds to various developmental works on Monday.

As the agenda reflected no funds to their wards, the three councillors along with their supporters resorted to protest. One of the councillors touched the feet of the municipal commissioner Racherla Paramesh to allocate funds to their wards.

The three councillors accused Nagara Panchayat chairman Marta Raja Bhadraiah of showing disparity in allocating funds. Later with the intervention of police, the meeting went on as per the schedule.
