Alert cops stop child marriage
Alert police on Wednesday stopped a child marriage at Aler mandal headquarters. According to Aler SI Narasimhulu, Bridegroom Manga Raju, resident of Yadagirigutta mandal was getting married to a minor girl Ragula Sony of Rajapet mandal at Dontidi Somireddy function hall located at Aler mandal headquarters.Â
​Aler: Alert police on Wednesday stopped a child marriage at Aler mandal headquarters. According to Aler SI Narasimhulu, Bridegroom Manga Raju, resident of Yadagirigutta mandal was getting married to a minor girl Ragula Sony of Rajapet mandal at Dontidi Somireddy function hall located at Aler mandal headquarters.
On a tip off police rushed to the function hall and enquired about the age of the couple. After enquiry, the police found the bride to be a minor and counseled the parents of Soni and Raju.
They informed them that marriage to minor girl is a crime and liable for punishment according to the law. They took a written statement from the elders of both the families that they will perform the marriage only after the bride turns 18 years.
