Hanamkonda: As many as 31, 000 families were visited and 40, 000 suggestions have been received online regarding Muslim reservations, said BC Commission Member V Krishna Mohan Rao.

He said the socio-economic conditions of backward sections among Muslims were being studied as part of the State governments’ plans to extend 12 per cent reservations to Muslims. As part of which Karimnagar, Sircilla, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Jangaon, Warangal Urban and Rural districts were visited.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mohan Rao said currently four per cent reservation in education and employment was being offered to Muslims. Based on their population ratio and studying the conditions of the communities under BC-E category a Muslim Minority Commission was constituted.

The Minority Commission has already submitted its report to the State government. The study by BC Commission was meant to compile comprehensive data regarding enhancement of 50 per cent reservation quota which was being now offered to different classes.

Besides, studying the living conditions of Muslims, a report on status of all the 14 communities under BC-E category would be submitted to the State government. A comprehensive questionnaire was prepared to obtain data on living standards, economic, educational and employment status of the communities concerned, Mohan Rao informed.

Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata and Joint Collector S Dayanand were present. On the day, the BC Commission member visited different localities in Warangal Urban district and in Jayashanker Bhupalpalli district.
