Nizamabad: Noted psychiatrist and counseling specialist Dr Keshavulu urged parents not to pressurise their children appearing for the tenth class examinations as they were too tender to withstand any stress. Parents should stop pestering them to excel in their examinations for scoring high marks and achieving good ranks as they would be disturbed psychologically, he added.

Participating as a chief guest in an awareness camp on ‘Examinations-Role of Parents’ under the aegis of the Mano Vignana Vedika at Khaleelvadi in the city on Wednesday, Dr Keshavulu said that children should enjoy their studies while preparing for an examination and they should not consider it as a punishment. He also cautioned parents not to compare the performance of their wards with those of other children as they would lose their self-confidence. They would also develop poor self-esteem, he warned.

Dr Keshavulu also advised the authorities of private schools not to harangue the students to get good ranks or grades in examinations as that might result in the development of suicidal tendencies among the students. He said that the students should sleep for at least six hours every night to remain healthy. Otherwise, they would suffer from insomnia in future, he warned.

He also advised them against taking unhygienic outside food during examinations as that might lead to dirreaoh
Activists of Manovignana Vedika and a large number of parents and students were present on the occasion.
