World Consumer Day was celebrated on a grand scale in Nalgonda, Suryapet and Bhongir-Yadadri districts on Wednesday.

Nalgonda: World Consumer Day was celebrated on a grand scale in Nalgonda, Suryapet and Bhongir-Yadadri districts on Wednesday.

As part of the programme, meetings were conducted with consumer associations, consumers and traders at respective Collectorates by department of Civil Supplies.

Speaking at the occasion, Nalgonda District Collector Gaurav Uppal, Suryapet Collector Surendra Mohan and Bhongir-Yadadri Collector Anitha Ramachandran said that irrespective of caste, religion, region, gender and status all are consumers in day to day life and it is the duty of officials concerned to protect the rights of consumers in all aspects.

While stating that day by day adulteration in essential commodities have been increasing, they advised the consumer associations to take active part in creating awareness among the people on consumer rights while purchasing goods.

They directed respective officials to conduct frequent raids on traders’ hotels, mills to check the standards they are maintaining. On the occasion of World Consumer Rights day, Collectors of respective districts released souvenirs prepared by the department of Civil supplies in association with other line departments.

JCs Satyanarayana Reddy, Sanjeeva Reddy, Ravinaik, DROs, DSOs, DRDOs, CTOs, Municipal Commissioners, Catco member Himagiri, Guravaiah and Consumer associations leaders, consumers and others participated.
