​Jagtial: District Collector Dr A Sharath directed the officials to speed up the restoring works of lakes selected under Mission Kakatiya project.

He chaired a review meeting with the officials of irrigation department at his chamber in the Collectorate in Jagtial on Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Collector said that out of the 199 lakes selected during the first phase under Mission Kakatiya project for restoration, works of about 191 lakes were completed and the works of eight lakes are under progress.

Out of the 218 lakes selected during the second phase, restoration works of 97 lakes were completed and the works of the remaining lakes would be completed by the end of May. Proposals for the restoration of 180 lakes selected during third phase have been submitted to the government for restoring of 172 lakes.

He ordered the officials of revenue and water supply departments to give more importance to the chain-linked lakes first for completing of restoring works within the prescribed time limit along with including those lakes which are selected in first and second phases and are still remained incomplete.

The officials were also told to start the restoring works of lakes immediately, which can be done in summer other than those which could be done in rainy season.
