​Nizamabad: Members of the Students Federation of India (SFI) burnt the effigy of the TRS government at the NTR junction in the city on Wednesday in protest against the allocation of meager funds for the education sector in the annual budget this financial year. Speaking to the media, district SFI president Boda Anil lashed out at the State government for totally neglecting the education sector thereby destroying the education system in the State.

The SFI leader said that while the arrears on the fee reimbursement scheme was Rs 4,000 crore, the government sanctioned only Rs 1939 crore which was not at all sufficient to cater to the needs of large number of poor students who cannot afford to pay. Besides, it sanctioned only Rs 12, 705 crore to school education, he lamented.

Anil said that the State government did not allocate funds for education though the Kothari Commission in one of its recommendations said that 30 per cent should be allocated to the education sector. The government was not interested in improving the education system in the state, he added.

He lashed out at the TRS leaders for organizing celebrations and enjoying while the student community was facing immense hardships. He bemoaned that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao lacked sincerity and commitment to improve the education system.
