Andhra University hosts workshop on verbal plays and language learning
A One day workshop on Verbal Plays and Language Learning was conducted by the Departments of Journalism and Mass Communication and Foreign Languages in Andhra University.
Hyderabad: A One day workshop on Verbal Plays and Language Learning was conducted by the Departments of Journalism and Mass Communication and Foreign Languages in Andhra University.
Dr Eric Miller, Director, World Storytelling Institute, in his key note shared that, “verbal play activities would be useful for teaching and learning languages more easily and these teaching techniques were introduced in recent times in all the schools and colleges”.
“Though the telecommunications are connecting people globally and travel from one side of the world to another side in less than 24 hours, the greatest challenges and barriers between the people is language.
Many people seek to teach and learn languages but the process is often relatively frustrating and unsuccessful. No standard method of teaching and learning languages has emerged, each teacher and educational institution pieces together their own teaching and learning activities and methods”, he added.
Dr Eric Miller conducted verbal play activities during his lecture. Earlier, Prof G Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University, has said that innovative teaching methods would help the students to understand the concepts effectively and clearly.
Prof Rao launched a project Storytelling Integrated for Emotional Language Teaching undertaken by the Linguistics Research Society at his chamber.
Prof Rao said that the emotional language teaching has become a very important methodology now-a-days with globalization of education system.He said that proper effective methods should be introduced in teaching so as to help both the teacher and student benefit a lot.
Prof K Gayathri Devi, Principal, College of Arts and Commerce, Dr Eric Miller, Director, World Storeytelling Institute, Dr Challa Ramakrishna, Herad of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Prof DVR Murthy, Head of Foreign Languages, Prof P Bobby Vardhan, Chairman, Board of Studies, Challa Krishnaveer Abhishek, Secretary and Dr K Santhi, Member of the Linguistics Research Society, were present on the occasion.
