Nizamabad: Nizamabad Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Vinod Kumar said that consumers should be made aware of their rights and the businessmen should be made to realise that the customer or consumer is the king.

Participating in the Consumers’ Rights Day celebrations in the city on Thursday, he said that the Government of India enacted the Consumers Protection Act in the year 1986 to safeguard the interests of the consumers who may be exploited by the unscrupulous businessmen.

Speaking on the occasion, DSO Krishna Prasad said that the consumers cannot be made to compromise on the quality or standards of the goods and services that were provided and they should be of top quality.

He cautioned the consumers to examine whether there were ISO marks or HALMARK stamped on the goods that they purchased. If consumers were not careful and purchase the good blindly, they would incur losses, he added.

DCIC president Rajender, Tahsildar Sudarshan and others were present on the occasion.
