Peddapalli: District Collector Dr V S Alagu Varshini ordered the officials of various departments to give top priority to child protection in the district. She chaired a meeting with the officials of Health department along with those of Integrated Child Protection Scheme at the Conference hall in the Collectorate here on Thursday.

The officials were told to take the mobile numbers of SSC students and to give counselling to Mandal Samakhyas and Anganwadi teachers. She told the officials to establish a call centre at mandal headquarters and enquire the students as which college they would join after SSC.

The Collector suggested displaying numbers of Child Helpline (1098), Police Helpline (100) and mobile numbers of Police and ICDS officials of respective mandals along with establishing Help Desk at railway stations.

If the student is absent to school for three days continuously, the headmaster should call the student’s parents and must give counseling to them. She ordered the DEO to take steps for establishing ‘child clubs’ in about 104 high schools present in the district.

District Welfare Officer Padmavathi, District Child Protection Officer Shantha and Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee Kondaiah were also present along with others.
