​Jangaon: The District Collector A Devasena suggested offering incentives to officials, who execute Mission Bhagiratha works ahead of the schedule and the set targets.

She held a meeting with the officials of rural water supply and Mission Bhagiratha on Friday here to review the progress of works in the district. She told the officials to prepare a micro-level planning for speedy execution of works.

Efforts should be made to complete the works by March 31 and additional number of workmen should be engaged to expedite the works. The officials should have the complete list of works and workmen engaged in the task so as to ensure a close monitoring, Devasena said.

The officials concerned should work in coordination with village secretaries and sarpanches in providing tap connections and laying pipelines in the villages to ensure water supply to villagers during summer. Mission Bhagiratha Executive Engineer Y Krishnaiah, DE Satyanarayana Reddy and others were present.

Later, the Collector reviewed the status of ‘Grama Sandarshana’ programme taken up to monitor implementation of government welfare schemes in rural areas. She told the special officers, who were tasked with village visits, to ensure cleanliness in the villages.

The officials should lay special focus on construction of individual sanitary latrines, magic soak pits, percolation pits and compost pits. CPO G Umamaheshwar, DPO A Ravi Kumar, Tahsildars, development officers and others were present.
