Hanamkonda: The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, was resorting to divisive politics by his proposal of offering 12 per cent reservations to Muslims in jobs and education, alleged BJP Urban district president Rao Padma.

She stated that the constitution of India prohibits religion-based reservations and BR Ambedkar has also opposed the same. Yet the CM was making efforts to extend reservations to Muslims to political mileage, she pointed out.

The Chief Minister’s actions would divide the society on the lines of religion and castes. It could also lead to unwanted tensions in the State, she complained during a protest in Hanamkonda on Friday.

On the day, the BJP Warangal Urban and its Yuva Morcha activists took out a massive protest rally from Ekasila Park to Warangal Urban district collectorate, where they staged a dharna against 12 per cent Muslim reservations.

Tension prevailed for sometime during the party’s agitation as the police tried to thwart the protest rally and arrested the party leaders Rao Padma, M Dharma Rao, BJYM leaders G Siva Kumar, A Rakesh Reddy and others.

They were later released. Speaking to press persons, Padma and others alleged that the CM, who made many promises during elections, has failed to deliver them. In order to cover up his failure and lure the Muslims to vote for the TRS, he proposed reservations to the community, she criticised.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was going ahead with the motto ‘Sab ka sath sab ka vikas’ with an objective to unite the people in the society, on the contrary KCR was dividing the society, she lamented.

“The BJP would not sit quiet and make every effort to prevent CM’s efforts to segregate Telangana on religious and caste lines. TRS would face the same fate which Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has faced in recent elections,” she cautioned.

Party leaders M Satyanarayana Reddy, V Sriramulu, G Yadagiri Rao, Rao Amarender Reddy, K Santhosh Reddy, Sangani Jagadishwar, B Shravan, Srihari Yadav and others were present.
