Hanamkonda: The BJP has been continuing its protests against the TRS government’s proposal to offer 12 per cent reservations in jobs and education to Muslims in the State.

Under the aegis of Warangal Rural district BJP unit and its Yuva Morcha, a massive protest rally was taken out here on Monday. The rally was taken out from Ekasila Park to Warangal Rural district collectorate in Hanamkonda.

The party leader G Premender Reddy, BJYM leader A Rakesh Reddy and others participated in the protest. Tense moments were witnessed during the protest as the party workers wrestled with police, who tried to prevent them from moving towards the Collectorate.

Following which, police arrested several workers and the leaders. Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Premender Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, has no interest in the welfare of Muslims but he wants to make use of them as vote bank.

That was why the CM was proposing 12 per cent reservations to the community, though he was fully aware that religious reservations were against the constitution. In order to highlight the issue and to oppose the government’s move, the party has planned to lay siege to the State assembly on March 24.

Thousands of workers of BJP, BJYM and other frontal organisations from across the State would take part in the agitation, Premender Reddy informed while demanding the TRS government to give up the idea of offering reservations on the basis of religion as it could lead to division in the society.
